My Three Top Pick Juicers

By Ron Lagerquist

During the last twenty years, I have juiced thousands of pounds of produce and tried just about every juicer on the market. A few have broken my heart, but most have just broken.

Sometimes, you can get away with doing it on the cheap, but this is not true with a juicer. This little machine is expected to do a lot of labor either spinning at a high RPM or by having the strength to chew through hard veggies. It must have a well-made motor, and tough materials on all the friction points, baskets, and augers. The difference between a good and bad juicer may be something as simple as the size of the rubber feet.

The Juice Nut winner for Versatility:
Samson Advanced ~ $259

This amazing machine has taken juicing to a whole new level.  The Samson’s versatility comes from its unique, masticating, single-auger design, allowing you to juice everything, including wheat grass and greens.  You can also produce sorbets, applesauce, nut butter, and baby food.  With the added Oil Extractor, you can make fresh oil from flax, hemp, and many other seeds.  For $259, it beats the competition hands down. The Samson company is so invested in quality that they stand behind their juicers with a 15-year warranty. For more serious juicers, this is a machine that will produce the best-quality juice with the least amount of oxidation. More information

The Juice Nut winner for Usability:
Omega Big Mouth BMJ330 ~ $219

This juicer is all about speed of juicing and ease of use (including cleaning), and costs no more than $200, but still comes with an unheard-of 10-year warranty! The best juicer is the one you’re going to use. Even though I’m a hardcore juicer, I find myself reaching often for this juicer. Why? Its huge 3-inch hopper (the big hole where you drop in produce) means you do less work. Whole apples, three carrots at once, or a fat cucumber disappear into the Omega’s big mouth, and the juice gushes from the spigot. I can reduce a pile of veggies and fruit, and have the machine cleaned and counter wiped in 15 minutes. Amazing! Will juice greens but not as well as the Samson Advanced. Not recommended for juicing wheatgrass. More information

The Juice Nut winner for Affordability:
CitriStar Citrus Juicer ~ $44.99

The Tribest CitriStar Citrus Juicer has proven itself to be one of the best juicers for citrus fruits in its price range. As soon as you unpack this juicer you will be impressed by its sturdy construction. The powerful 85 watt motor, self-cleaning ream, and sloped juice collector insures the very best juice yield without that annoying clogging problem. I personally love the locking spout, eliminating juice from dripping all over your counter. After juicing, simply snap the spout in place, and in a few minutes come back and collect the last remaining juice. More information

I have been juicing for 4+years, mostly juice the greens with a green GS apple and some carrots. Our dental hygenist noticed a change in the gums in the first 6 months. We use an Omega 8004 very much like the Samson, we started with a spinner and changed to the auger style in 6 months. Enjoy your Juice Nut news letter. Question: Were can I get Broccoli leaves I've looked in all the markets in my area and have not found any (Miami,FL). thanks for your info

Juicing November 17, 2013 Twenty-one years ago, I was introduced to juicing and at the time I was about 5’7 and 195lbs... In two months of juicing, I dropped 40 pounds and according to my friends I had the most beautiful orange glowing skin they had ever seen. Well Life has change in 21 years and I weigh more now than I did then... The heart defect I was born with was beginning to slow me down... I was told I would not live to see 35. Needless to say after many surgeries and cardiac stresses, I am still here. Unfortunately for the last two years I was prohibited from any form of exercise, except walking… and even then no stairs, no hills, and not to fast… distance was more important than speed; I was told. To make a long story short, this January I received my new defibrillator, at the same time, after waking up from that procedure, I made a new declaration with myself. I decided I will not allow fear of death or hospitalization to rest, rule, or abide in my life any longer… So I have now cleared my house of all distractions, and stressful relationships, Then, I withdrew my Breville Juicer, from beneath the counter and placed it on the counter top. Afterwards I joined the YMCA and began doing all those things I have always enjoyed doing… water aerobics and weight training. My cardiologist has ok’ed me to return to the gym. So three days out of the week there I am... 2hrs of water aerobics, then 2hrs of light weight training... and if my heart continues to hold out, I am hoping to make the Guinness book of world records, for be the longest living individual with this particular heart defect born between 1960 and 1971, I am presently 47 years of age, and 220lbs (I Lost 5lbs since last month). I am also one of five of the oldest living patients in the United States, with my particular heart defect, and according to my doctors I am also the healthiest. Recently I met the other 4 individuals via Facebook. Oddly, they found me via a YouTube video I posted in 2008. Being part of this group I realized I am truly blessed. As I read through many of their stories, I began observing, I truly am more active than the other 4, and in some cases, more active than a few of the younger guys and girls. If I could make one wish, with the wave of a magical wand and a few magical words, I would perform a little magical incantation to make them all whole and well. For me the magic wand is my Breville juicer. I have returned to juicing daily, hoping for the same results I received 21 year ago. Food is a little more costly now due to being medically retired, but regardless of finances, I am making it... I feel better and stronger now and for that I am eternally grateful. I am also very hopeful. I was reading the United Kingdoms CHD site and I learned the oldest living individual with there is 53 years of age… What does the UK know that we don’t know? As a child about the age of 6 or 7 I read from the book of Genesis; “[T]he LORD said, my spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.” After reading that, I told my mother and all my doctors, I will live to be 120 years of age. Till this day I yet desire 120 year of eventful, adventures, exciting, loving and compassionate days. Not so long ago I read the story of Dr. Norman Walker and how he healed himself, just by changing his diet. He believed juicing was the answer. He believed by juice one could live one-hundred years are longer. He went on to develop and patent the Norwalk Juicer. And according to legend, he lived to be 99 and 5months… OOOH I forgot. According to legend Dr. Walker didn’t start juicing until was 50 year of age. So if this legend is true, I am shooting my best shot. Thank U for your time and this site. Sincerely Kim R Daniel/ SistaSistaSister on the net… The oldest living patient with my particular heart defect... :) PS. My defect is, D-Transposition of the Great Vessels/ Tetralogy of Fallot
