An interesting study in Italy has shown that kiwis may help improve respiratory disorders.
Also known as the Chinese gooseberry, this fruit was, for marketing reasons, renamed kiwifruit by New Zealand exporters, after the kiwi—a brown flightless bird and New Zealand's national symbol, and also a colloquial name for the New Zealand people. Today, kiwis are cultivated in California and New Zealand. This allows us to have fresh kiwis all year round. The small fruit is brown and fuzzy and about the size of a large hen’s egg, with bright green flesh and edible black seeds.

Phytochemicals & Antioxidants in Kiwi Juice
Kiwis are the only fruit other than avocadoes to remain green when fully ripened, and are therefore a source of the antioxidant chlorophyll. An interesting study in Italy has shown that kiwis may help improve respiratory disorders. Children between the ages of 6 and 7 were fed 5-7 portions a week of kiwi and citrus, and were compared to children eating only one serving a week. The results were remarkable. The first group had a 44% reduction in wheezing, 41% less chronic coughing, and 28% less mucus production.

Kiwi Juice Tips
Depending on the ripeness, kiwi can be pleasantly tart or quite sweet. I prefer when the fruit becomes soft to the touch and takes on a distinctly fruity scent. The juice will be slightly thicker, but the added bonus is a fuller kiwi flavor. Simply dilute by adding apple juice.
Picking Perfect Produce
Kiwis should be firm, giving only slightly when pressed. If hard, they can be left on the counter to ripen for a few days to reach their peak of sweetness.
Storing Your Produce
They will store well for a week in the refrigerator.
Taste Combos
Kiwis produce a thick delicious juice that combines very well with grape and apple.
